Bivio Announces Membership in AdvancedTCA (ATCA) Specification Forum

Membership with AdvancedTCA Brings Standardized Network Architecture Based on Latest Specifications to Telecommunications Carriers and Large Enterprise Networks

SUPERCOMM – CHICAGO – June 7, 2005 – Bivio Networks™, a leading supplier of next generation packet handling platforms, today announced at SUPERCOMM it has joined the PICMG AdvancedTCA Forum, extending its leading-edge, wire-speed technology to a multi-billion dollar telecommunications carrier market.

Bivio is committed to bringing its key multi-dimensional scaling differentiators into ATCA with plans to enrich the ATCA ecosystem with exclusive focus on network applications requiring speeds in excess of 10Gbps per blade combined with high application intelligence. With a standardized chasis based on the latest ATCA specifications, telecommunication carriers and large enterprises can tailor a mix of different system components to their specifications, significantly lowering their total cost of ownership while providing high-system throughput and processing power at multi-gigabit speeds.

“We are excited about the business opportunities that AdvancedTCA opens for companies like Bivio”, said Dr Elan Amir, CEO of Bivio Networks. “As the adoption of the OEM model accelerates in the networking industry, Bivio’s unique ability to support the demands of emerging packet handling applications is sure to lead to successful outcomes.”

Bivio’s multi-gigabit network appliances, featuring a groundbreaking architecture optimized for wire-speed execution of Linux-based packet handling applications, is rapidly gaining wider acceptance among network equipment vendors and carriers looking for cost-effective and timely ways to deliver advanced IP services.

Several of the most innovative, fastest growing network applications in the areas of VoIP (voice over IP), multimedia, wireless and IPv6 are increasingly built as software applications running on network appliances. Next generation network appliances such as Bivio’s 2000 product family provide a standardized open architectural foundation on which new services and the long standing promise of convergence can be delivered.

Bivio Networks will be at booth #56083 during SuperComm (Chicago) in the week of June 6-9, 2005.
